Please join us for an evening of celebration on World Usability Day. The Minnesota Chapter of the Usability Professionals Association, in cooperation with Usability Services of the University of Minnesota, will be hosting a special reception, including a poster session and an invited speaker. This event will follow presentations and lab tours that the University is hosting earlier in the day.
Program Details:
Reception and Poster Session: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Enjoy hors d'oeuvres with wine, beer or coffee while you visit with colleagues and hear poster presenters discuss how they are "making life easier" for others everyday. Posters will be presented by industry leaders from 3M, Medtronic, U.S. Bank and others who want to share their successes in usability.
Presentation: Joe Konstan on "What Role Do Online Communities Play In our lives": 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Joe Konstan, Computer Science Professor at the University of Minnesota, will speak on how usability issues can get in the way of participation in social digital communities like MySpace, YouTube, Wikipedia, and MovieLense. Why do some of these communities take off and others can’t seem to establish themselves?
All of this follows an afternoon of events sponsored by the Usability Services group at the University of Minnesota. See the link for World Usability Day on this page for a complete schedule.
Around the globe, usability professionals and others in related fields
will be saluting this second annual World Usability Day celebration with
