Private Tour of The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory at Como Park

We all deal with problems with design such as color choices, placement, arrangement and availability of resources. The Marjorie McNeely Conservatory is the largest glass-domed garden in the region. The beautiful, award-winning garden occupies approximately one-half acre under glass. On March 10th the conservatory manager will give us a special tour of the newly refurbished conservatory. We will tour the Sunken Garden and the Greenhouse, and hear how color, texture and design are used to draw visitors' attention to different areas of the gardens. Our guide will also discuss techniques that the conservatory uses to facilitate accessibility, visitor flow, signage, and display design.

The tour will provide usability and design professionals a refreshing example of how other designers use organization, pleasing color palettes, and information design to guide their visitors and help them understand what they are seeing and experiencing.

This is a special event, which requires that the tour begin promptly at 6:00 PM, so please arrive on time. There is a special event cost of $20.00 for non-members. The Chapter will cover the tour costs for chapter members. You are welcome to buy your own food and beverage at the restaurant after the tour.

If you, or someone you know, would like to attend, please register by emailing events@upamn.org that you will attend. (Please note this is a new email address!)
