1. The meeting started out with an announcement from Dr. Thomas Smith from the Upper Midwest Chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society. They are hosting the annual Human Factors & Ergonomics Conference which will take place from October 8 to 12 in the Minneapolis Convention Center. UPA members have been invited to the conference and are encouraged to volunteer by hosting a lab tour or working at the conference. Information about the conference will appear on our web site in the near future. Here is his contact information:

2. The second order of business was DeeDee DeMulling's presentation entitled "Design Techniques for Complex Web Applications." She will be presenting this seminar at the national UPA conference this June in Las Vegas. The presentation covered such topics as web applications, virtual collaboration, internationalization, and the user-centered design process. Her talk sparked an interesting discussion.
